Love for old books

I am heading out to Fayetteville to spend the week with my son! I am really excited about the whole thing, except the drive! I consider myself directionally challenged so I’m a little nervous. However, I love to drive long distances, and I have my trusty iPhone map thingy, so wish me luck.
I hope to get to visit the Dickson St. Bookstore! This place is amazing for such a little store, books of every kind and stacked to the ceiling! The last time I was there I found a beautiful book about painters that had “plates” in it of the paintings. I bought it thinking I was going to take the plates out and frame them, but I just can’t bear to ruin the book. I should have known this ahead of time because I am a book junkie. I can’t stand a book that has folded pages or messy cover. I don’t mind if its old and ragged, but I feel compelled to unfold the pages and smooth all the corners, and basically show the book some love. Do you have any such compulsions? Please tell me I’m not the only one!

Cool! I figured out how to post!
I think my sensibilities actually become offended when I see books being mistreated. Over the course of history people have died to allow us the right to read and write, that is way too easy to forget!
