Call for Women Artist "Ovolution Exhibition"

"Ovolution," is a portmanteau of ovulation and evolution: ovulation + evolution = Ovolution!
According to the Facebook page it's a "celebration of women in (and around) the art community of Little Rock Arkansas. This event is a chance to gather as women and show the community what we are creating, working on, or doing. As a female community, this is the opportunity to promote ourselves, encourage one another, and return the support that our community has given us." It's a chance to "show Little Rock, what we lady artist are all about!"
During the month of September Little Rock's Dedicated Studio will exhibit artwork made by women. There's no particular theme so this is a great chance to any of our have artwork shown! They are asking for drawings, paintings, sculptures, ceramics, photography, installations, printmaking, etc. to be submitted for consideration.
Send an email to achisart@gmail.com, with one .jpg image each for up to three works, along with your name, the titles, dimensions, media, and contact information by August 17. Accepted artists will be notified by e-mail on August 24 2012.
An open gallery will be held on August 31 as part of the Ovolution festivities, and on Saturday there will be a craft sell. You can get more information, such as vendor opportunities and time schedules, at their Facebook page. Then on Sunday, September 2, one of the many things planned is a mass critique.

Capture Arkansas 2012

The Arkansas Democrat-Gazette and Bedford Camera & Video accept open submissions for Arkansas photography through its Capture Arkansas website. The photographer retains all rights to their photography, so this is a great way to gain exposure locally. The top ranking photos are chosen by the editors and voters on the site, and since you could put your contact information on your page it will be easy for them to get in touch with you when they decide they need you to photograph something for them. There are also different showcases specifically for top rated photos.

Currently there are two challenges going on - "Get Out in the Ozarks" and "Arkansas Summer Vacations."

Get Out in the Ozarks Challenge
Get Out in the Ozarks is a semiannual magazine for Northwest Arkansas (and beyond) full of information on recreation and outdoor fun and they are looking for photos showing these kinds of adventures. Anything from bouldering and cycling to running and hiking, or maybe fishing and boating. 

Arkansas Summer Vacations Challenge
This is just what it sounds like, vacation photos. Showing off the best Arkansas vacation spots. What to do, where to go for a great Arkansas vacation.

Even if you decide not to enter anything, there is some really beautiful photography on Capture Arkansas that you could spend hours looking through! It's worth the time!
