Alliance of Artists Community
Good morning and Happy Fathers Day! Treat your Dad extra special today!
I found a site last night with opportunities for many different kinds of artists! It's Alliance of Artists.
I assume, without digging deeply yet, that this is the point of the site. I had heard of the Alliance before, but in book form, so I’m glad to see they are now digital as well! There are pages for jobs as well as residencies, (both pages have many items to choose from.) It also looks like a wealth of helpful resources are available!
Good luck to us all searching out what the Alliance of Artists has to offer. Defiantly let me know if you find something you apply for!

Learn from me, dear art school student...
As I zealously spend my evenings online searching for galleries, call
for entries, online portfolios, local festivals, art competitions, and other
ways to promote my artwork, I realize that I should have been keeping a dedicated
notebook, writing down anything I heard during
college about where I might be able to sell or show my work after college! Clear case of coulda-woulda-shoulda!
At any rate, I’ll be posting my findings here and perhaps it will help you
out too.
There's a lot going on in the virtual art world, so there should be
plenty of national and international links, but I hope to add a lot of Arkansas
art flavor as well!
One of the first things needed is an online portfolio. However, I just got my Bachelor's, so free is key,
and I don’t want ads all over it competing with my artwork! I want something
sleek, with a decent URL.
One I’ve found that meets this criterion is Carbonmade. The free version gives you five
pages to work with and 35 images to upload; it also has a page for your artist
statement or bio. I don’t have mine completed yet, but it’s been really easy to
use. I don’t see where it (the free version) is meant to be a site to sell your
work from, but it allows you to list your personal info and that you are
available for freelance so someone could contact you directly. My address is http://ldromine.carbonmade.com, which
I think is pretty good for a free site. If you have anything in your Moleskin notebook, a potential connection for selling our artwork, let us know! We artists must stick together!
