Love for old books

I am heading out to Fayetteville to spend the week with my son! I am really excited about the whole thing, except the drive! I consider myself directionally challenged so I’m a little nervous. However, I love to drive long distances, and I have my trusty iPhone map thingy, so wish me luck.
I hope to get to visit the Dickson St. Bookstore! This place is amazing for such a little store, books of every kind and stacked to the ceiling! The last time I was there I found a beautiful book about painters that had “plates” in it of the paintings. I bought it thinking I was going to take the plates out and frame them, but I just can’t bear to ruin the book. I should have known this ahead of time because I am a book junkie. I can’t stand a book that has folded pages or messy cover. I don’t mind if its old and ragged, but I feel compelled to unfold the pages and smooth all the corners, and basically show the book some love. Do you have any such compulsions? Please tell me I’m not the only one!

Start talking woman!

I have been thinking about starting a blog for a while now, but I always found other things to do that weren’t nearly as important as writing my thoughts on randomness! I’ve labored momentarily over ideas to center my blog around, but have come to the conclusion that I have way too short an attention span to focus on only one thing. I have decided, instead, to talk about things at liberty, whatever strikes my fancy.
So, something about me… I have been married 26 years this December 28th to my best friend, Michael, I love him and I love being with him! We have two sons, Zakary who is 25 and Caleb who is 23. It blows my mind that they are grown men! I still think of them as babies!
Many people consider me a perpetual college student, as I started in 2001, but in May 2012, I will finally graduate with my Bachelor of Art in Studio Art with an emphasis in sculpture and painting.

I hope you enjoy my thoughts as I share them and I invite you to join in with your own thoughts as well!
